This hole is normal. Double ply heads (such as the G2) have a single air trap hole on the lower ply. This allows air to escape and allows the two plies to work better together. If you have 2-ply heads that do not show the hole about 1 inch from the rim, then the hole is beneath the collar (which was the old way of doing it).
