My circuit breaker cable stopped working. What should I do?

Try this for your circuit breaker cable:

  1. Back out the screw that holds the switch plug in place and remove the plug. You will then see a small hole in the outer jacket of the cable.
  2. With wire cutters or a sharp blade, cut off an inch or so of cable, just below that hole.
  3. Gently insert the freshly cut cable into the plugs using a circular motion. Make sure the cable is inside the plug as far as it can go.
  4. Finally, tighten down the screws gently to make contact with the center conductor.
