What does the 440 mean on my guitar tuner?

440 refers to the tuner’s frequency calibration. Our tuners come set to 440hz, which is generally considered the “standard.” We recommend staying in 440hz unless you are specifically looking to tune to a different frequency (such as if you’re playing with another musician who does not tune to 440, or if you’re looking to experiment with different frequencies). 440hz is what most consider standard though. You can change the tuner’s calibration frequency by pressing the up and down arrows on our clip-on tuners or using the calibration button on the side of our pedal tuners.
